Fake 2024 1oz silver bullion Britannia?

Just a thought... Has anyone here come across a fake 2024 King Charles III silver bullion 1oz britannia?

Not yet, and that's likely to remain the case. I got mine from Silvertrader as a historic one off, and I don't tend to collect generics. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the market is invaded though.

Now, the reason why I asked is that some months ago I purchased some from... you guessed, eBay and they all have tiny parallel lines across and throughout the coin's faces (probably need the aid of a loupe to see them).
I did think it a little strange at the time but it's not until now that I have have remembered.

Well, you've come to the right place to ask about that.

I'm just hoping that someone in the know out there might be able to enlighten any interested parties including myself. Actually, come to think of it ... perhaps I'd rather not know!

If you send me one of what you believe are fakes I will happily check it out and send it back to you. 

BUT its the Royal Mint.   Scratches and the likes are common. I have done a tonne of reviews and scratches across the face on everyone sounds like the same problem I had when I reviewed those coins upon release. 

You have my details and I am sure everyone will vouch.. I will send it back !!! I have plenty of fakes to compare it with but you can do everything I do at your place. 

USE a magnet with a known genuine bullion coin. Then use it on a suspected fake. 
Weigh it.  check if the weight is off. 
Specific gravity test will tell you if it is pure silver or not... 

as it has scratches and marks it will  be sold as bullion and not collectable so dont worry about gently handling one to do the gravity test.. just pat it down afterwards with a soft towel and get rid of all water before putting it back in a capsule. 

Again any problems shout. I am happy to assist. And I am sure there are plenty of other members on here who would as well.

Thank you for your kind offer. The only test I haven't done is the gravity test. The reason why I originally mentioned this was because I have never seen a bullion coin marked in this way. As I said, when I can, I'll take a photo of both sides and post it on your forum.

There is also a really clear 'how to' section on how to import pictures in the How To Q + A section towards the bottom of the home page. When you've got the hang of it you can even choose the size of picture.

But with all the security features of the Britannia, it should be very easy to spot if it is a fake

The dies were probably made with a 3D printer or a CNC machine.

That's quite possible.

I will try over this coming week to take lots of FAKE photos. 

IE real photos but of FAKE silver and gold. And I dare anyone to get 100%  and think they know or can tell that by the photos alone they are fake. Some are Gold. and have fooled dealers... I know of one dealer who re sold them on only to be caught out by this. I wont mention names because they sorted their security and it was GOLD not silver... 

But always be careful. Seriously many people came to me after seeing videos and other stuff and realised it they had a fake or two or well in my latest victims case a large amount!!!!   Scary

Showing some photos of nasties is a great idea, as .more people need to be made aware of this problem.

I can recall seeing an ancient gold coin that had been NGC slabbed and graded listed for sale by a coin shop in Australia for several thousands of pounds.... It wasn't until I greatly magnified the coin and case that you could see the difference of clarity of the printed bar codes between the two. The coin itself had differences too, but they were a very, very close match. So there you have it, even NGC slabbed and graded coins are not necessarily what they seem!

Great video, most informative.

You can always tell a real Brittania. The milk spots don't rub off. All kidding aside the security features always give away the fakes. They can't take the mico print and 3d price marks economically
