Roses But I need help! Empty Roses But I need help!

Thu Aug 22, 2024 4:51 pm
So we had this little Bush/plant in our house for about 2 weeks.
It has blossomed twice already Nd there are lots of buds sprouting.

However I noticed these bugs on it !! I am assuming the worse and thinking its black fly which killed our last rose plant many years ago. Any help?

Let us Spray.
Looks like aphids.
You can also wipe them off manually using a kitchen towel, if you aren't too squeamish.

I am going to stick the plant outside for the day and let the bugs enjoy it. LOL

The last time we had this issue... we sprayed them with something like vinegar or something which killed the plant.

My wife had a degree in botany. She says those are aphids. They arrive as black flies and their larval stage is what we typically call aphids. Roses are their favourite meal! The best way to deal with them is to spray with soapy liquid. Harmless to the plant and kills the bugs.

@ArcaneCollector , they like new growth sarracenia shoots as well, and appear in their thousands. Squishing is quicker than spraying for mass annihilation with a spray to deal with the remainder. Thin rubber/vinyl gloves are best.

Maybe a weak soap solutions such as washing up liquid diluted appropriately...
