Finally Arrived
Thu Sep 26, 2024 7:44 pm
At last, my Ship's Cat coin has arrived. 2oz of feline collectibility. Glow in the dark eyes too, but I don't talk about that. It is a beautiful piece, the only drawback being that the box issued by the mint is sealed, so the wrapper has to be cut to get inside, where the COA and the presentation box are packed. I'm very pleased with it.

Nice!
KOMSCO make some good stuff
It's sad the Royal Mint can't produce stackables or similar coins to the Koreans, Poles, Kiwis and private mints

I didn't know it was made by Komsco, @Kookaburra . The mint isn't named on the packaging and none of the places I've seen it on sale give the information either. Even the Numista catalogue is silent on the point. Where did you find it out?

@Kookaburra It did work. Thank you, I'll make a note on my list.
I wish they would put something on the packaging though.

This is true for lots of collectibles and coins from random places (Congo, Rwanda, Gabon, etc) it takes effort to find out which manufacturer actually minted the things. Most dealers will list the issuing country but not the manufacturer, lazy I guess. For me having a KOMSCO label increases the value, I assume this is a pleasant surprise for you?

Very pleasant @Kookaburra . I'm a big fan of the stackers and have a good collection of them. In fact, the Armadillo Lizard was in the same consignment, and a parcel has just been released by HMRC with the Lotus, Aztec Death God and the Thinker (aka Gates of Hell). Komsco/Coins Today is a very good mint.
