Finally got my hands on these two!
Sat Oct 26, 2024 12:44 am
Well happy with my most recent pickups.
Thought i'd set myself the challenge of picking up some of the most iconic coins from around the world from all the various mints & this is my first two ticked off the list.
The Maple & The Lunar Dragon.
I've only been collecting a few months so i don't really have any coins yet other than a few Britannia's so was over the moon to finally get these two & got them at a cracking price too
I did make a video showcasing my pickups over on my YouTube channel too if anyone wants to check it out but i've only got a couple coin related videos up so far although i am in the middle of making more.

Well done you @Diaxus . I should warn you though, silver is very addictive. I started out just wanting the Queen's Beasts. This led me to Silvertrader, and the rest is expensive history. Wouldn't change it though.

Yea i know what you mean, i've already been over on Silver Trader's website eyeing up some goodies.
I'm just trying to set a few goals & challenges for myself so it stays fun & interesting opposed to just collecting multiples of the same coin for stacking.
My main goal at the moment is to try to get one of all the main coins from around the world, but there is a few sets i would like to collect too if i could like the Lunars, Queens/Tudor beasts ect.
Only trouble the spot price is killing me at the moment as i don't have much left over each month to get a lot, but little by little i'm getting a few bits when i can.

Little by little will eventually get you a long way @Diaxus . Silvertrader's list is exceptionally good value, as you'll see if you compare prices. If there's something in particular that you want it's also worth asking if he has one in a cupboard somewhere - at worst he can only say 'no'. Asking on the Forum can also turn up the odd gem. @denby has a cave that even a dragon would envy and offers goodies for sale from time to time. Regrettably nothing I've been after so far.
I don't stack, and I don't collect generic coins (boring!). The only exception has been the New Zealand Kiwi, and I'm not sure how that happened. I have a number of lunar sets though, and otherwise tend to collect on themes that interest me and coins/rounds that are of especial (to me anyway) artistic merit. I also love some of the US private mint rounds. Intaglio Mint has a wonderful line of Anthropomorphic Cats - I would like those, wouldn't I? - and I have the entire run now. Not to mention their 'Aliens' series and a few odds and sods. And don't get me started on the Korean Coins Today Stackers ....

Oh that's cool i'll keep an eye out & keep that in mind.
But that's pretty much what i wanna do, collect the things that interest me & try to build up some full sets.
Oh yea i've seen @Jumping into Silvers Korean Stacker collection, some of those designs are insane, i love them.

I don't know how they do it at the price. I've been collecting them since they came out and have practically the full set of the basic stackers. I haven't gone for the odd weights or the swords, but the rest are in my cave - 42 so far.

Oh wow really, yea that's cool.
All of the ones i've seen so far have been absolutely gorgeous, but if you had to pick just one what's your favourite stacker out of them all?

That's a really tricky one to answer, they are all so very different and to an extent the choice depends on my mood. The architectural subjects are superb, but of the ones I have I think it's a choice between the Bear's Paw and Soul Mates. I love the little Armadillo Lizard though. I'm currently waiting for the Tiger, and that's going to be high on the list. The box they're all in is definitely the one I'd grab if there was a fire.

Oh ok, yea i've seen the Bear paw & Armadillo before over on Jumping's channel, can't say i've seen the Soul Mates one tho, i'll have to look that up now.
Yea don't blame you for wanting to save them if anything happened, they are gorgeous pieces!
