Testing slides

Hi,
Long story short, I nearly ended up buying 10 x 1oz of fake silver American eagles (2005 year stamp)

Thankfully before I did the deal I tested them on a friends dads silver slide tester.

Any idea where I can get one of these from?

Not sure if you are aware, but copper coins also exhibit a similar affect to neodymium magnets. Not to the extent as silver, but it’s there nevertheless. Be careful when buying.I would compare the slide rate of a potential buy to the same coin in your possession that you know is silver. That way you may be able to rule out the copper core fakes as well.

There is a lot more to this story, the most alarming thing wasn’t the slide test but the fact he had a A5 size box full of these eagles which were all clearly fakes.

The story went he moved into the house and found them in the loft.
They were advertised for sale in the Leicester area but the guy has taken the advert down after I told him I would call the police.

Thinking back I should have taken a real Eagle with me to compare them, it may have been more obvious.

Either way, be careful of fakes.

Amazing what you can find in lofts. Didn't someone find a load of Star Wars original artefacts in a house, which they are now selling (the artefacts, that is) and the person they bought the house from is now crying foul because - get this - they weren't fit enough to go up into the loft and remove the things. The only things in ours were some loft insulation and bits of timber from the builder.

Ours contained insulation and mice poo !

A small digital troy ounce scale is a worthwhile purchase as well, set it up with a troy ounce coin you know is genuine or a dedicated troy ounce weight and then check the weight of any future purchases adds up.

I got me one of these. It has the TOZ setting. Very handy, and cheap.

That CCT slide is legit. My slide was made by him when HD was still playing with furniture. Lol it really is that old

Not sure about the seller, but those look like the correct slides. I understand that they are top quality.

The slides are and again the premium is worth every penny.

I have ordered

It arrived within 2 days of ordering via Royal Mail.

I am very impressed by the quality of the slide and its performance.

A decent chunk of change including postage (close to £50) but if it avoids 2 fakes then has paid for itself and saves me having to borrow one.
