Weekly Visitors
Wed 02 Aug 2023, 22:57
Hello Guys
I wanted to show some of the visitors I get to my front lawn here in Florida. This a Sandhill Crane which is over three
feet tall l. They mostly come in pairs. They can do damage to your screens when they see a bug they make holes in your screens.
Here is a closeup photo of one. Second photo.

That's really something @AVG . We get nothing like that over here - too cold and wet I think - but I did rescue a wren from my greenhouse the other day, despite its total non-cooperation.

Yes, @Admin , we used to get a heron on our pond, and it fished it out. That's why we don't keep fish any more. It also used to perch on top of the summerhouse, and one of the funniest things I saw was one of the cats walking round trying to work out how to get up there, while the heron kept a very beady eye on him. Eventually cat shrugged and stalked off: a perfect 'fox and grapes' moment.
I still think AVG's crane is more spectacular though.

I like the colors and characteristics of these birds. The most unique one I saw in my area was the yellow crested night heron. I was surprised when I saw it in my dad's old backyard. Never saw one before so I had to look it up.
Herons and egrets are common where I live. I took a picture of this blue heron metal sculpture outside of Norfolk Int'l Airport and Norfolk Botanical Gardens. It's made of aircraft parts.
Flowering mimosa trees behind it.

Too funny @ArcaneCollector.
Here's a pic of the South African paradise crane being towed down the Elizabeth River in Norfolk, Va.

Too funny @ArcaneCollector.

LMAO
I was just laughing soo hard with what @ArcaneCollector started with the red crane. LOL
@The Cat's Mother The sad thing is they are protected and you can not dispatch them. I had to check as back in the day one of my friends wanted to get rid of a pair attacking their lake. Instead I set up bangers to go off. It worked..
