It's supposed to refer to the flecks of silver amongst the gold, although most of the money I spend on shiny goes into gold. I thought Goldilocks was a bit obvious, though.

Although, if I do the sums, I've still spent more on computer equipment than I have on shiny.

I've got a Valiant and a couple of 2013 £20s already and largely out of ammo until next month, I'm afraid.

Maybe I'll get a 2013 sov to go with it at some point.

It is great to see member of both forums coming together and enjoying it. When enough members come in and the buy and sell becomes more active... This no membership fee will probably attract a lot more.

But very nice Sovs.

@tray - I've never bought any guineas, but I might if one comes up at the right price.  Currently the collection also has to function as a stack, so I've steered away from coins with a high numismatic component to the value.  I'm mainly doing a choosy beggar approach, looking for nice examples amongst the bullion sovs on the market without particularly going for rarity.  Most of my other gold is bits world gold, a few 1/4oz coins and some 1/10oz that I got as a little project to take photos of.

I've also got 140oz or so of assorted silver coins, mostly collectibles of one sort or another.

I really want a 1/4 American eagle 2023 I love the design of it. It's about the same price has are sovereign and similar in size. I think that will be my next big purchase

The tenths aren't all that pricey, about £200 or so.  However, they're so tiny that you can't really do anything but take macro shots of them.  I think you're probably better off with a 1/4.

I've got a few ASEs, which are also quite photogenic as coins go.

Looking at my gold collection, I’d say my favourite “sweet spot” gold coin size is the double sovereign. Here you can see one next to a standard sovereign.

Ooh.  An 1887 double.  That's nice.  I might get a double or two at some point, perhaps a Machin; older coronation or jubilee sets tend to be quite pricey these days.

That's a nice pic - what's the obverse like?  I've got an 1887 sov in fairly decent condition; I should put some more pics of the individual sovs up at some point.
