Anyone own a metal tester machine?
Sat Feb 11, 2023 8:53 pm
I'm not looking to get one but just curious.
I've seen prices range from $50 to $800.

This gold tester here is $300. I have seen some pen like devices on Amazon for around $50.
Don't know how accurate or good they would be but that's what I was referring to.

This is what I was looking at for a proper machine. I know they work very well. However fakes have been known to bypass them as well.

I Own a SIGMA. I love it. very necessary if you do a lot of buying/selling of gold or silver. Figure it this way. If you catch one ounce Gold fake you have paid for the machine.
On occasion, I purchase silver/gold on auction and the tester has caught a few.
Sometimes you can tell by other means (weight etc), but there are always some that it's not that easy.
If you purchase one make sure you order it with all of the wands you will ever want (the different sizes test different thickness of metals basically)
The wands must be indiviually calibrated to the machine so it is expensive and a hassle to add a wand later.
I am new to the forum and looking for subjects that I can weigh in on.

You might be new to the forum but you will have a lot to say in regards to safeguarding yourself and even what is hot and what is not. We welcome you.
