Just to clarify, King Leonidas never actually said "This Is Sparta!", but it sounds good:

The coin is beautiful except for the king's open mouth. It's disgusting. Sports newspapers and magazines often show players with their mouths wide open and I don't like that at all. Easy pass on this one. Otherwise, very good review.

I would love to get the coin in hand and see if the stock images match up to reality. But dang that does look good. My son ( eldest ) would love that. He is into his re enactment and loves full contact sword fighting.

He has not really chosen. He is more into the physical contact of weapons. Stupidly I started training him where I could when he was about 4. LOL

I thought he would choose a martial arts. But turns out he likes broad swords, and anything really he can. He is after buying a spear next for £70 plus £15 P+P ... but even he was turned off when he saw the postage.

We usually buy from Playwell and use polypropylene for training,

He has some LIVE weapons. And some battle / enactment weapons as well. He wants me to build a display wall for him. I keep telling him he can have his won when he buys his own house.. LOL

With your metal working skills you could make a spear for him... well the tip of the spear maybe.

Does being able to work with silver translate to other metals like iron for example? Or, are different metals like chalk & cheese to work with?

Ahhh you have not seen the other half of my workshop. ALL wood working

Yeah I can make a spear. Kinda the same processes. Lathe to get the handle/ shaft, and devil's forge and Sandcast a spear head then attach

I would make bronze or similar

Ah, so you can make the spear, make a nice present for his birthday or graduation.

BTW: Can you work with ANY metal in your workshop? Are you able to work with tough metals like platinum and tungsten?

Yes in theory, but I have not tried it yet. I am working my way on gold but don't tell. Saying that I can do platinum in principle and tungsten might push my abilities.... I am not sure I can melt tungsten yet without some major insulation

"This Is Tungsten!"

Quite a jump in melting points:

Silver 962 °C
Gold 1,064 °C
Platinum 1,768 °C
Tungsten 3,422 °C

I know it's a huge leap. That's why I said I can't do it without essentially a small fully insulated area and 2 oxy acetylene torches going at the same time.
