The Fire bricks would go onto of that wood, and you would place your furnace and what ever mold your working on ontop of it.
It is a fireproof brick! Looking at a piece of wood ( being polite ) on top of a washing machine in your workshop or work area Screams soo many fire risks. You will have Silver spill. You will have it splutter.
You need to be able to safely protect yourself and your house from this.

Firebricks are CHEAP and are light weight. They are in my opinion a MUST have.

I wouldn't bother with stamps yet. I would get pouring first. And for the love of god only use 999 ... Never use in a furnace... ( Not just crucible ) any other metals!!! or substandard metals! It will contaminate it and cause it to fail a assay or legally need to be classed as a white metal.

Finally get a powder fire extinguisher. They are cheap and will work with electrical fires and help put out molten metal, Ideal if your graphite crucible breaks into your furnace.

Just a heads up... Safety first bud. I can not stress that enough.

So i measured 2oz grain into a small cup and put that onto a scale. It measured just over 2oz. It seems to have lost a tiny bit and gone under 2oz. Should i measure the grain next time in the mold. Then put the mould onto of the scale, why would it have lost some weight???

Firstly well done!
You didn't do anything wrong. Remember that when you are melting the grain you need to account for a small loss. For 2oz I suggest putting in 1 or 2 grams extra. Why? Because you will have some loss in the graphite and a tiny loss from evaporation. Yes small amounts! This is why you should only use that furnace for 999 silver or 999 gold each furnace should be assigned for 1 metal and purity. BYB poured 999 gold but because he used his silver furnace it was not 999. He is a good pourer and a perfectionist. It was a mistake but a lesson learnt and a massive wake up call to all other pourers.
If your after a 2oz bar remelt it in the furnace and add 1 or 2 grams. You will need to account for cleaning as well. If you are going to register and get it assayed they might drill it.

Loads better, just need to look at fine fine fine sand paper and vinegar next. Maybe after a few goes in the kiln the graphite might not be as much later on the bars

Be Extra carefull!!! I have learnt the HARD way with using sandpaper... I failed a assay because I used very fine paper which had traces of Palladium, Rhodium, Aluminium and Iron oxide.

I now only finish my pieces after they are assayed!!!

That was a hard lesson to learn.

In the end i have tired for 2 days and made up these 3 2oz bars. The top one is 2.53oz, so thats gonna get remelted. The other 2 are just over 2oz. Has some decent looking half ripples on them also Silver coins - Page 2 557eb910

Borex is your friend. It will stop alot of the graphite smudge ontop of your bars. And it's super easy to remove

I put it in when it's cold. Then I use the graphite rod to S..T and remove it before pouring. I find it cleans and coats the inside of the crucible as well as removes any potential contamination.

First 2 bars sanded and polished. Still some slight graphite. But did not want to sand too much and ruin the bars too much 🤩
