So I am looking for special gifts for umm December. And for my son.
So I seen this link below and got excited, then I seen the price and laughed. WHO THE HECK would pay this amount for a ASE?

Seems like you can put anything on a coin and someone would buy it. The history of toilets, 1oz series will be next.

The second link is tempting but that said what is the mintage? Surely there are not that many who want them. My son has most already but a set would be cool. But not 300 pounds cool!

I missed your comment...

lol! lol! lol! lol!

That would be hitting home so I don't think they would do that.

Oh have you heard about Perth Mint and the investigation regarding potential crimes...

I hadn't until you mentioned it  @Admin , so I looked it up. Here's a link to an article about it. There are others, but this has a nice picture of the Mint.

https://smallcaps.com.au/perth-mint-investigated-austrac-money-laundering-concerns/

I have good memories of visits to the Mint when we were on holiday in WA. The gold pour is amazing: 200 oz of pure gold melted before your eyes; poured to make a bar, and then handed round the audience while it's still warm (they keep a very close eye on that part of proceedings). Gold cools amazingly quickly and it's only a few minutes from pour to passround.

This appears to be a compliance issue related to regulatory requirements to undertake background checks of clients to avoid being caught in money laundering. They set up an app for trading in certificates, and this does not have the appropriate checks. I reckon they will rectify this easily. This article gives a better explanation https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-09-19/austrac-investigates-perth-mint/101438128.

Yeah I wont entertain the seller... unless it is someone on here...

Yikes... but it is only £200 max!! as a set, that is pushing it.

So anyone who wants more than that is well keeping a hold of it for the foreseeable future.
