Queen’s Beasts vs Tudor Beasts Empty Queen’s Beasts vs Tudor Beasts

Hi gang.
I heard recently that the TB series may not be as popular as the QB series because of the change of monarch. What do you all think?
I look forward to hearing your thoughts! Thank you as always Smile

I personally don't think it's because of the change in monarchy (This might actually increase the value of the series), but the designs don't excite like the QB series.

Queen’s Beasts vs Tudor Beasts Beasts10

The TB look strange, plus take up too much of the coin canvas (See above)

The Royal Mint hit the QB series out the park; I've never taken to the TB series.

The TB lion is more "Crouching Lion, Hidden Dump"

Looks like he's having a s**t or something

I agree with you on this @21C Bullion . I started collecting coins after I watched a video about the Queen's Beasts, and the designs are wonderful. I have the 2oz, the 10 oz and the 1/4oz in that series. I thought long about the TBs, and eventually decided that I would get a set, but only the 2oz. Jody Clark was a sad loss to the Mint, but he is still doing some good work - see the George and Dragon 2022 for the Ascension Islands.

Thanks @21C Bullion I hadn’t even noticed the huge difference until you pointed it out. Good point!! Very Happy

That’s an impressive QB collection you have @The Cat's Mother!
Any idea why Jody Clark stopped designing for the RM?

I’ve never seen that one before! It’s a lot nicer than the usual design, for sure. Is it scarce?

Hi @Bondie . Don't know about scarcity, but the design appears on the 2014 proof silver Britannia too. They cost a fortune on eBay.
I'm afraid I don't know why Jody Clark left the Royal Mint.

Could be a combination of things making the TB series less popular than the QB and yes having that traitorous trumpets head on could well be one of them.  I said I would not get anything with his head on in but the fact the monarch changes part way through is novel so I just held my nose and decided to collect the set.   The fact it's practically the same coins getting recycled could be a factor as well, just comes across as a bit of a cash grab but if the likes of the Perth mint can get away with doing it three times now with the Lunar series then perhaps not but I am beginning to get Lunar series fatigue now myself even though the Lunar series is one coin a year and the TB is 2 so it's halfing the cycle of years required to collect the full set.

I personally love them both.

I wish I collected the 10oz in the Queens beast... I have learnt my lesson and have been collecting them for the Tudor beast.

But I will one day go back and start my 10oz for the Queens beasts.... just got to watch those premiums.

Standing offer @Admin : collect two sets of the TBs and at the end of the five years I'll swap one of them for my spare set of QBs.

I wish I could, but being honest funds are tight to buy 2 sets. I really appreciate that offer and would love to make it but I can not commit to it. I will catch up on the Queens Beasts I am sure.
