Spikes in prices Empty Spikes in prices

Hi all

I often see spikes in the gold or silver price where the prices goes up drastically and then drop just as quickly. Can anyone shed light on why this happens?

I don't find that too drastic, it is Gold and a £5  difference is not a big issue.  It happens but not a lot.

I suspect it was due to Automatic Trading. Hence the plummet again. I use trading calls on some of my investments.

I put in the amount I want to buy and when to sell. Set the prices and leave it alone. I even put in how many units I want to buy or sell.

So I think in a 24 hour scan, it was most likely online calls.
